Pawsitively Clean has always had a rigorous process for cleaning carpet cleaners during our regularly scheduled maintenance visits. However, we have also clarified and updated our cleaning procedures after COVID-19 to provide additional safeguards.
Carpet Cleaner Rental Cleaning Guidelines
Our Pawsitively Clean team members work every day to clean carpet cleaner rentals at stores around the country. Machine cleanliness and consumer safety have always been top priorities for us. During each service visit, our team thoroughly cleans the rental machines, including the lids, tanks, brush rolls and machine bottoms. They test the machine and make any needed repairs. And we now clean the machine with BISSELL Sanitize Spray.
At each store visit our Pawsitively Clean team will also:

Wash their hands before and after each store,

Always wear PPE (gloves, protective glasses, and face masks),

Maintain appropriate social distancing,

Clean up their area well before leaving, making sure floor is clean and dry, and

Sanitize their work van at the end of each workday.
BISSELL Sanitize Spray: Cleaning Disinfectant
BISSELL’s Sanitize Spray is registered with the EPA as a surface disinfectant product on List N: Disinfectants for Use Against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).
According to the
EPA’s website, this means that, while our product hasn’t yet been tested on SARS-CoV-2 specifically, it demonstrated efficacy against a harder-to-kill virus or against another type of human coronavirus similar to SARS-CoV-2. Because SARS-CoV-2 is a new virus, it isn’t available for use in lab testing at this time.
All surface disinfectants on List N can be used to kill viruses on surfaces such as counters or doorknobs. Or, in our case, carpet cleaning rental machines.
Cleaning Pawsitively Clean’s Carpet Cleaning Machine at Home – We Need Your Help!
We also ask our renters to clean the carpet cleaner at home after using it, just as we did previously, to avoid a $20 cleaning fee and having dirty machines sitting in the rack. Don’t forget, vacuuming before deep cleaning carpet will get the best cleaning results and keep the rental machine cleaner. It’s easy to clean the Pawsitively Clean carpet cleaner, just follow these simple steps:
1. Rinse the tank top, the clean tank, and the dirty tank to remove all dirt and debris,
2. Remove all string, pet hair, debris and dirt from the brush roll and wheels,
3. Wipe the bottom of the machine, brush roll and wheels with a damp cloth,
4. Clean any dirt and debris from the outside of the machine, and
5. As a new safety precaution, we also ask that you spray or wipe the machine and tank handles with a sanitizer or wash them with soapy water and a cloth.
6. Please bring the machine and accessories back the way you would want them for your next cleaning job.
Pawsitively Clean Team Members Machine Cleaning
After our team members test and repair each Pawsitively Clean carpet cleaning machine during their visit, they begin the machine cleaning process. We have increased how often our team members are in stores cleaning rental machines. All carpet cleaning machines and hoses are cleaned to strict guidelines including:

The entire carpet cleaner is now cleaned and wiped with BISSELL’s EPA-registered disinfectant.

There is, and always has been, a key focus on main consumer touchpoints, such as the handles, tanks, nozzles, brush rolls, and base.

A second disinfectant spray is left to dwell and dry naturally on the carpet cleaning machine on key machine touchpoints and the machine exhaust air path. We are also spraying the Pawsitively Clean rack doors and locks during our scheduled maintenance visits.
