Do you have questions on how to remove urine stains from carpet? We’re here to help – our business is to help you clean carpet stains! The best way to clean fresh urine stains is to get them as soon as they happen, if you can. If urine dries in the carpet it can be hard to get out.
So, what do you do? We recommend using an oxygen-based formula to clean fresh pet urine stains, like our Pro Stain & Odor Eliminator. It can remove tough pet urine stains by penetrating deep into carpet fibers. Plus, Pro Stain & Odor Eliminator contains a pet odor neutralizer that removes odors and refreshes the carpet fibers with a light scent.

How to Remove Fresh Urine Stains from Carpet:

Get Rid of Excess Moisture

Wipe excess moisture from the carpet with a white towel. Be careful not to push the urine down deeper into the carpet.

Apply Formula to the Stain

Saturate the stain and surrounding area with Pro Stain & Odor Eliminator. Make sure you get the surrounding area too because if the urine gets down into the carpet backer, it spreads farther than you can see on the top of the carpet.

Let the Formula Sit

Let the formula sit on the stain for one minute. If the stain is still visible, spray more formula. No need to scrub, just let the formula work until it dries naturally.

Vacuum Area

Vacuum the entire area after it is dry.

Tips Before Using Pet Stain Removal Products:

  • Before using any stain removal solutions or formulas test a small, hidden area for colorfastness and look it over after it dries. If the color has been affected, do not use it on the whole area. For upholstery, look for manufacturer's cleanability code tag. Our water-based cleaners are safe to use on fabric coded "WS" or "W". If the code is "X" or "S", do not use. Not recommended for use on velvet, silk, vinyl or leather upholstery.
  • As we were saying before, if you don’t treat the urine stain quickly, you may wind up with a difficult to remove yellow stain or loss of color pigment in the carpet. Urine salts become highly alkaline over time and can bleach primary carpet dyes, starting with weaker red and blue colors. At this point, your only options to remove the settled stain are to dye or patch the carpet.
  • Always use cleaners according to labeled product instructions.
  • Keep children and pets off the cleaned carpet until it is dry and vacuumed.
