Get Dogs Used to Bath Time
Dogs need to be bathed every once in a while to keep their skin and coat healthy. But there’s a line because they shouldn’t be over-bathed because it will strip natural oils from their skin. Many experts say every four-to-six weeks is a good time to bathe dogs but, if they get really dirty, then baths may need to be more frequent. Starting to bathe dogs when they are young will help them get used to the process so it’s not as big of an ordeal when they get to be older.
Wash Pet Bedding
Washing the dog bed and the cat bed can be a pain. You probably don’t wash them as often as you do your own bedding, but you should wash pet bedding regularly because it will help in keeping the house clean. Pet beds collect hair and dander and end up smelling a little worse than you’d probably like. One tip to wash them less often but to keep them clean is to try putting a blanket over them. That will be easier for you to toss in the washing machine compared to washing the dog bed or the cat bed.
Wipe Down Pet Paws
One of the ways that carpets get dirty is when dirt, sand, and snow comes in from the outside. We can take off our shoes at the door, but dogs (and some cats!) don’t have that luxury. Keep a designated pet paw towel by the door so that when pets come inside, you can easily wipe their paws before they get dirt all over the house.
Organize Pet Toys
Another way to keep your house clean is to find a basket or designated spot for pet toys and clean up every few days. Pets don’t know how to put away toys, so we have to keep up on it for them. Plus, you wouldn’t want to have a guest trip on a toy or to accidentally step on one yourself in the middle of the night!
