We here at BISSELL Pawsitively Clean decided to come up with our top-5 ways to to show your pet a little extra love

5 Ways to Celebrate Your Pets

National “Love Your Pet” day is February 20th.  According to National Day Calendar, this day is “set aside to give extra attention to and pamper your pets.” Let’s be real though, most of us obsessive pet owners already dish out a ton of attention on a daily basis. So with this holiday almost upon us, what can we do to show a little extra love? We here at Pawsitively Clean® decided to come up with our top-5 ways to do just that. Read on and share your own ideas on social media using #NationalLoveYourPetDay.

1. A Trip to the Store and a New Toy
Who doesn’t love receiving a present? Pets are the same way. This year, try taking your pet to the store to pick out a new toy. He or she will enjoy playing with everything before finally choosing one and you’ll get a kick out of watching them trot proudly with their new prize.

2. A Moment of Indulgence
Some people are happy to have their loving dog lick their face. Others, not so much. If you’re in the latter camp, why not grit your teeth and indulge your affectionate pet, just for a minute? You know it makes him happy and a good shower can take care of the slobber.

3. A Long Walk on the Beach
OK, it doesn’t have to be a beach. It could be a long walk around your house, or maybe it’s a trip up to his or her favorite pet store. Wherever the path takes you remember that your pet loves you unconditionally and simply wants to spend time together. Even something as little as extending your usual walking route by a short distance will feel like a special treat.

4. An Extra Treat
Speaking of special treats, why not give your pet an extra snack after your long walk or dinner? Treats are a great way to reward and reinforce good behavior. If you happen to take your pet to the store with you, let them pick something out own their own. Give them a few options to make the decision a little easier.

5. Brush, Brush, Brush
Brushing is a great way to spend quiet time with your pet. Not only that, but according to the Animal Humane Society, “this type of interaction can actually lower stress levels and reduce blood pressure for both you and your (pet).”1 Try to think of a little extra brushing like a relaxing day at the salon of everyone.

As you’re dining, indulging and playing with your pet, think about the amount of time he or she spends down on the floor. Our Pawsitively Clean® Carpet Cleaning Machine is designed to get deeply embedded dirt out of your carpets, which can help make your home healthier for all.
