Cleaning Tips

For entire room cleaning, rent the Pawsitively Clean® Rental Deep Cleaning Machine. Along with the Full-Size Machine formula, the rental deep cleaning machine quickly and thoroughly cleans your toughest pet messes. For an even better clean, it is recommended to pre-treat any spots and stains before use.

Pre-treatment

  • Blot up liquids with an absorbent cloth or paper towels. White materials are recommended because certain dyes may bleed and make the stain worse. Remember not to press down hard on the area when blotting up messes because it drives the liquid down into the carpeting and can lead to problems with mold.

  • Gently scrape up semi-solids with a spoon or spatula. Do not use a knife or other utensil with sharp edges because it could damage the carpet.

  • Be sure to pre-test any spot removal solutions or chemicals on an inconspicuous area first. Test for colorfastness on a hidden area. If carpet color is affected, do not use the product.

Things to Remember

  • If you leave urine untreated, you may wind up with a difficult to remove yellow stain, or worse, loss of color pigment in carpet. Over time, urine salts become highly alkaline, and can bleach out your primary carpet dyes, starting with the weaker red and blue. So, you are left with a yellowish or off white discoloration. At this point, your only options to remove the settled stain are to dye or section the carpet.

  • What your pet eats and drinks, the length of time the area has been soiled, the carpet construction and type, and other factors greatly affect how well the soil or stains can be removed.

  • You should always use cleaners with care and according to labeled product instructions.

  • Let products dry thoroughly before having pets contact them. This prevents dirt and odors from being tracked onto damp, clean carpets. A fan blown across the floor can help dry carpet quickly.
